Professor & Associate Dean for Research , Ph.D.
Smith was named associate dean for research in April 2024 after previously serving
as interim associate dean of research and chair of the Department of Psychological,
Health, & Learning Sciences. He is a professor of counseling psychology, and his research
focuses on health disparities among lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer adults.
Smith鈥檚 research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Canadian
Institutes of Health Research. |

Research Administrator
Gonzalez handles post-award support for CUIN and the Dean鈥檚 Office. She earned a master鈥檚
of business in human resource management from 探花视频 at Victoria. She
started working with grants in 2013 here at the 探花视频 and rejoins
UH after almost three years at MD Anderson. Gonzalez has engaged in the whole process
of grants from pre-award, post-award, departmental, to closeout and is glad to be
back at the University. One of her biggest accomplishments was being a co-author for
an article submitted to the National Council of University Research Administrators

Research Administrator
Green handles all pre-award support for the College. She previously worked for seven
years in grant administration at Baylor College of Medicine, including two years dedicated
primarily to pre-award work. Outside of work, Green loves traveling, exploring new

Program Manager
Harris has a master's of business administration in human resource management and
is responsible for the overall management of PI monthly reconciliations, OOR programming,
OOR data analytics, gift card and customer-service tracking and facilitation. He coordinates

Program Director
Switzer handles post-award support for ELPS and PHLS. She has a B.S. in early childhood
education, a BBA in general business and a master of public health. Switzer previously
worked at the College in the Department of Psychological, Health & Learning Sciences
and then at Rice University as a department administrator and business manager. In
her spare time, she likes reading dystopian novels and thrillers, traveling, listening
to true crime podcasts and spending quality time with family and friends. Contact:
