Innovative Research Talk with Samaneh Karami
Thursday, May 15, 2025
10:00 am - 11:00 am
Samaneh Karami will discuss the results of her pilot project, 鈥淗uman Model for Early Detection of Postpartum Breast Cancer.鈥
Breast cancer remains a global concern, with more aggressive forms affecting global majority women, possibly due to parity-associated susceptibility. However, the lack of models to study these variations hinders early detection and targeted interventions. Karami鈥檚 research addresses this gap by developing a first-of-its-kind human postpartum mammary gland model (PMGM) that mimics lactation-associated gland remodeling in vitro. Using molecular profiling and 3D culture techniques, this model aims to identify early molecular drivers of postpartum breast cancer and improve prevention and treatment strategies across different populations.
