Consent as Friction
Thursday, April 3, 2025
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
This talk examines the real impact of consent requirements in data privacy, using case studies on U.S. biometric privacy regulations and EU behavioral advertising mandates. It challenges the notion that consent is merely a tool for choice or an ineffective safeguard. The discussion advocates for a practical approach to strengthening consent as a means of mitigating privacy harm in the absence of broader democratic data governance.
